A Development Study of Ethnolinguistic-Based Story Books for Elementary School Students Using the ADDIE Model

Abstract

The limited availability of pedagogical resources that integrate linguistic diversity necessitates the development of ethnolinguistic storybooks as educational materials. The studi aims: (1) to describe the development of ethnolinguistic-based storybooks for elementary school students, and (2) to assess the feasibility of ethnolinguistic storybooks for use in the learning process. The development model employed in this study is the ADDIE model, limited to three stages: analysis, design, and development. Six experts were involved in validating the product’s feasibility, consisting of two language experts, two children’s literature experts, and two learning experts. The validation results showed that the storybooks received an average score of 86.8 from the language and literature experts, categorized as “very feasible,” and 81.8 from the learning experts, categorized as “feasible”. The mean value obtained from these two values is 84.3, which falls into the feasible category. These findings suggest that the developed ethnolinguistic-based storybook is a viable and effective learning resource to introduce language diversity and cultural values to elementary school students.
