The Analysis of Facility and Infrastructure Support in Handball Learning

Abstract

The effectiveness of physical education in higher education is significantly influenced by the availability and quality of sports facilities and infrastructure. In handball instruction, limited facilities can hinder student engagement and skill development. This study aims to assess the adequacy of supporting facilities and infrastructure for handball courses at universities by identifying deficiencies and their impact on learning outcomes. A quantitative descriptive method was used, involving 213 respondents from various semesters. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire, direct observation, and informal interviews with course instructors. Findings indicate that although handball courts are available in sufficient quantities, most are in poor condition. Fields do not meet standard requirements, and facilities such as changing rooms, restrooms, and first aid are minimal or non-existent. Senior students tend to provide more critical evaluations based on their practical experience. There is a significant gap between ideal and actual facilities, which impacts the quality of teaching and learning outcomes. Institutional investment is needed to improve sports facilities to support safe and effective learning. Further research is recommended to explore the relationship between facility quality and student performance.
