The Effectiveness of Game-Based Water Introduction Learning on Anxiety of Elementary School Students

Abstract

This research is motivated by many students of SDN 2 Cihuni who experience anxiety when learning swimming sports. Through game-based water introduction learning, it is hoped that swimming sports learning will be more fun and interactive, so that students can reduce anxiety while in the water. There has been no research that specifically examines the effectiveness of game-based water introduction learning on the anxiety of elementary school students, so more in-depth research is needed. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of game-based water introduction learning on the anxiety of SDN 2 Cihuni students in learning swimming sports. The method used is a quantitative approach in the form of pre-experiment with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. This study was conducted on only one group without involving a comparison group. The group was given a treatment then compared to the results between before and after the treatment. The results of the normality test showed that the data was distributed normally. Analysis of the paired sample t-test yielded a value of 0.001 < 0.05 which means that there is significant effectiveness of game-based water introduction learning. Thus, it can be concluded that game-based water introduction learning is effective in reducing the anxiety of SDN 2 Cihuni students in learning swimming sports. These findings indicate that game-based water introduction learning can be used as an alternative effective learning method because it makes a positive contribution to reducing students' anxiety levels. This research can also contribute to the theory of game-based learning and the theory of student anxiety in learning. Further research can be conducted to compare the effectiveness of game-based water introduction learning with other learning methods in swimming.
